Doctors see patients suffering from a wide variety of health problems; malaria and malnutrition are very common.  The young girl sleeping while she waits with her mother has malaria. The Bwindi Community Hospital is in Buhoma village on the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Western Uganda. It serves around 60,000 people from the surrounding area.

Traditional Chinese Medicine refers to a broad range of practices sharing common theoretical concepts which have been developed in China and are based on a tradition of more than 2,000 years, including various forms of herbal medicine and dietary therapy. Although these practices are considered alternative medicine in the Western world, they are a common part of medical care throughout East Asia, accounting for estimated 40% of all health care delivered in China.

  • Names of those who died from injuring while at the WW2-era Franja Partisan Hospital on 20th June 2018, near Dolenji Novaki, Slovenia. From December 1943 until the end of the war as part of a broadly organized resistance movement against the Fascist and Nazi occupying forces, the hospital was set in a deep gorge in rural Slovenia where fighters were brought in from many areas to be treated in this secret location. 578 were treated here but the mortality rate were only 10% and the site was never discovered by German forces. Franja is in the UNESCO Tentative List of World Heritage sites.

Most pregnant women in the area have to travel long distances to get to the hospital for their births and this can cause complications. The staff at the hospital felt this was a very useful addition to the hospital and it also means they can be monitored in the late stages of pregnancy.   • An Officer Cadet at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is loaded into the back of a British Army Land Rover ambulance to join the downfacing trainers of a collapsed colleague, after retiring  from an endurance race. Recruits run a 5 mile steeplechase around the Academy grounds to assess individual stamina and accumulate team points. Sandhurst is an institution which has bred staff officers since 1800. Today it trains future officers for the demands of leadership and military understanding of military understanding,. Students are tested for their command instincts, intellect, strength of character and physical endurance often under great psychological pressure - the demands asked of them in modern warfare. Failure in this test might not necessarily mean dismissal though perserverence or refusal to give up won't harm their prospects.
