  • Shop owner writes a reduced price on an upright mirror with bright furniture on sale in a London street.A shop owner writes a reduced price on an upright mirror with bright furniture on sale in a London street. Writing on the glass with a marker pen the man has decided to tell us the original price of this item was #250 and he writes down a new, reduced value of #170, making us believe there are massive savings to be had on this home furnishing. Behind him is a garish pink sofa chair that was made in Egypt and imported to the UK capital where it and other pieces sit in bright sunshine, their colours looking tacky and cheap.

  • On a bright summer afternoon, a young spoiled girl shows-off by riding her favourite motorized Barbie trike along The Parade, the main promenade in the north Welsh seaside town of Llandudno, Wales. Wearing a bright pink helmet and travelling on the matching pink toy bike, she trundles along with the low-tide coast over her left shoulder. Barbie is a best-selling fashion doll launched in 1959 and produced by Mattel, Inc. The brand's merchandising reaches far and wide to countries and cultures around the world and this little girl seems to be the happiest on the beach, enjoying a generous present perhaps from a parent. She is the exact age that Mattel are targeting when they market these toys to accompany their dolls and accessories though the industry has come under fire for its controversial stereotyping of gender and subtle sexuality.

The company's clothing and shoe designs typically feature three parallel bars, and the same motif is incorporated into Adidas's current official logo. The "Three Stripes" were bought from the Finnish sport company Karhu Sports in 1951.

  • Seen from a high viewpoint, a young girl rides on her father's shoulders in the middle of the Longleat Hedge Maze. She can barely see over the walls of foliage, so tall is the labyrinth of twisty pathways, and she holds out her hands to brush against the green foliage. Made up of more than 16,000 English Yews, Longleat’s spectacular hedge maze - the world's largest - was first laid out in 1975 by the designer Greg Bright. The Maze covers an area of around 1.48 acres (0.6 hectares) with a total pathway length of 1.69 miles (2.72 kilometres). Unlike most other conventional mazes it’s actually three-dimensional.

  • Seen from a low angle inside their open-top classic American car, two openly gay men cuddle up close to look into each other’s eyes while holding their favourite cans of Websters Yorkshire bitter (beer). They are attending a classic car rally in Brighton during a Gay Pride festival, that this English seaside town regularly hosts during the hot south coast summers. The large 60s steering wheel is seen in the foreground and the vehicle’s leather seat looks shiny clean against the bright light. There is a classic car magazine resting on one man’s knee and they are clearly mad about this era of motor transportation.

Concentrating on their screens in the middle of the chaos of this busy shopping street, the visitors to the capital look frustrated and cross with their apps or messaging. One has the look of an angry consumer of electronics - possibly about to throw his handset across the road. Others walk past unaware of the reaction, preferring instead to pass-by.

In the background are the church pews that accommodate the congregation - the central aisle in the middle of the picture - and the high arches of the main Nave (the wide, main body of a church building).

  • Looking up from the ground to the underside of a jet airliner passing overhead in bright skies, blurred purposely using a slow camera speed, creating a separate, staggered double-image. In blue skies afternoon skies above south London, where aircraft pass overhead a few thousand feet above suburban homes, the plane is seen as a vertical form as it turns and edges across the airspace on its way to the runways at Heathrow airport, approximately 20 miles to the West. The jet is generic, minus airline markings though we see it is a twin-engined model, its two powerplants mounted beneath its wings.
