Madeira Levada Landscape

A narrow section with a precipce falling below in a landscape along the Levada Nova, on 20th April 2024, in Santa Antonio do Serra, Madeira, Portugal. Levadas are waterway aquaduct irrigation systems unique to the Portuguese island of Madeira, stretching from town to town, delivering a highly-efficient irrigation supply to remote and urban communities, some created in the 16th century. There have historically been injuries and deaths of hikers falling from Levada paths.
