The faint but beautiful traces of 13th-century religious frescoes on the northern wall of the St Thomas a Becket Church, on 27th October 2024, in Capel, England. Discovered in 1927 by the art historian Ernest William Tristram, the murals depict biblical stories such as the Last Supper, the death and burial of the virgin and Cain and Abel. Although no longer used for services, the martyred Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas a Becket is thought to have preached at this small Norman church which lies on the Pilgrims Way, the medieval pilgrimage route between London and Canterbury.
