People With face Masks For Chinese New Year In London Chinatown

People wearing face masks for Chinese new year celebrations on Gerrard Street in Chinatown on 26th January 2020 in London, England, United Kingdom. Due to the recent coronavirus outbreak an increased number of Chinese / Asian and western people are wearing face masks in public despite NHS Englands advice that the risk of getting the illness in the UK is low. Wuhan novel coronavirus WN-CoV is a new respiratory illness that has not previously been seen in humans. Each year local Chinese community and Londoners gather on this famous area of central London which is the focus of celebrations for this, the Chinese Year of the Rat. Bright red lanterns are strung across between the buildings creating a canopy of colour.
