Hebdens position in the valley with waterways and the nearby wool markets made it an ideal place for cloth production. Hebden Bridge is a market town in the Upper Calder Valley in West Yorkshire. During the 1970s and 1980s the town saw an influx of artists, creatives and alternative practitioners as well as green and New Age activists. More recently, wealthier professional people which in turn saw a boom in tourism to the area which was compounded after the popular crime drama series Happy Valley was filmed and set in and around the town.
