Long time Labour MP Diane Abbott speaks for the first time in public after having her whip returned on the steps of Hackney Town Hall on 29th of May 2024, London, United Kingdom. Diane Abbott was the first black female MP elected for Labour in 1987 and she has been a Labour MP ever since for her local constituency Hackney North but had her whip removed in 2023 for remarks she made in an open letter. She has now had her whip returned but it is still uncertain if she will be able to run for Labour in the coming general elections.
