Three weeks after the new Labour governments budget in which a 20 per cent inheritance tax on farm estates was announced, protesting British farmers gather in Whitehall to voice their objections and concerns, on 19th November 2024, in London, England. The change of policy means that from April 2026, family farms worth more than £1m and which often rely on passing land down through the generations, will face tax bills of 20% when transferring ownership, forcing farmers to sell land or businesses that have been built up over decades.
