Phil Clarke Hill

The Ministry of Culture in Rio de Janeiro has been occupied since 15th May 2016. Originally as a protest in response to the interim President Michel Temer cutting the Ministry, even though it has been re-instated, the occupation continues. Dozens of protesters are resident here, living in tents shelters inside the building. The space has been host to a multitude of self organised cultural events, from music to discussions to yoga, and even some University lecturers holding their classes here, it is a hotbed of activity.
